DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY!

It's safe to say Arsenal fans have not had the best of times over the last few weeks. Being 2-0 up at Liverpool after playing them off the park, being 2-0 up at West Ham after 10 minutes, only to see us surrender the leads and end up with 2 points is a bitter pill to swallow, even though the draw at Anfield ended up feeling like a fantastic point with the way the game ended. And then we had hardly settled into our seats when we looked up to see Southampton score one of the fastest goals ever in the history of the game, leaving certainly me standing there open mouthed thinking 'what the hell has just happened?'
We then move on to Wednesday just gone. Let us be honest here. We were quite simply blown away by an incredible performance from a team waiting to defend themselves from over 100 financial charges. And if this feels like sour grapes, I really do not care!
So where does this leave us? Well, amazingly, we are still top of the league! Why? Well, the simplistic answer would be because we have played two more games than Man City. However, the other reason why we are still top of the league is also quite simple. It is because Arsenal have quite simply been phenomenal. And this simply (yes that word again) cannot and should not be airbrushed from this season, despite the attempts to do so by those with anti Arsenal agendas, many of who funnily enough seem to be of a Manchester United persuasion.
Right from the start Arsenal won 9 out of their first 10 matches, in the game they lost they were victim of the most horrendous refereeing where a legitimate goal was disallowed by a VAR official who would be later sacked for an even worse misdemeanour that would cost us another 2 points. And yet, it is not just the fact that we have won so many games, it is the manner they have been won. Exciting attacking fun football, football that has lit up stadiums around the country, no less The Emirates where it has been a cauldron of noise, a fantastic new anthem which I cannot wait to sing on Champions League nights, smashing the reputation it has gained over the years of being another Highbury Library.
And then we look at the team. This is a team Arteta has only just put together. Let us not forget we have not been at the top table for a few years now and we have been victims of this on a few occasions where players have preferred to move to Champions League clubs. This makes our recruitment success that more remarkable, mixed in the a healthy dose of the Hale End crew we now have a squad which consists of the most youngest and exciting players who as long as they stay together can only possibly improve. Just imagine that for one second. An Arsenal team even better than what we have seen this season. A team even more together than what we saw at the end of the Bournemouth game? A team who are even more committed to scoring that last minute goal like we did against Man Utd? A team who puts an even more rounded stunning performance as what we saw when they blew Fulham away at Craven Cottage!
So, whilst we lick our wounds, it is worth remembering .... we are still top of the league! Ok, maybe not for long, but we ARE back eating at the top table, we ARE moving forward, we have been having the most incredible season......let us be happy!
